Kenya Nyeri - Washed
Tasting Notes
Description
Nyeri County is renowned for its significant contribution to Kenya's coffee production, standing out among the country's top growing regions. This picturesque area is nestled between the majestic Mount Kenya and the Aberdare mountain range, just east of the Great Rift Valley. The climate and natural characteristics of Nyeri create ideal conditions for cultivating coffee. The region benefits from rich red volcanic soils, abundant rainfall, and warm but mild temperatures—key elements for producing high-quality coffee. As harvest season approaches, coffee producers in Nyeri County adopt an organic and selective approach, hand-picking only fully ripe cherries. Kenya experiences two distinct coffee harvests each year. The early, or "fly crop," is harvested between June and August, while the main crop is picked from October to March, primarily from farms located at higher elevations.
