The Kieni Factory, part of the Mugaga Farmers’ Cooperative Society, is located near Karatina in Nyeri County on Mount Kenya's slopes. Serving 900–1,500 smallholders farming at 1,600 to 1,800 meters, the region's volcanic soils and climate foster slow cherry development and exceptional clarity. Farmers grow SL28 and SL34, known for vibrant flavours, with Ruiru 11 and Batian for resilience. Kieni uses Kenya’s double-fermentation method, ensuring quality through meticulous processes. This dedication has earned global recognition and supports community growth through training and credit facilities, delivering coffee that embodies Nyeri's terroir.
