Costa Rica La Isla
Tasting Notes
Description
A special coffee made from Costa Rica's terroir and Kenya's coffee variety. In 2017, Luis and his wife Georgina began operating La Isla farm with the dream of producing the highest quality coffee in harmony with nature. Although the farm is less than 10 years old, it has won the Costa Rica CoE four times since 2020, demonstrating unique skill and expertise. In particular, the farm owner Luis, based on his past experience as an agricultural scholar, consistently plants hundreds of coffee trees every year and spares no research and investment in coffee varieties and processing methods. This year's CoE 6th place winning variety, SL 28, is also a representative coffee variety of Kenya, but it was newly born with the colors of Costa Rica in the hands of these couples. The coffee cherries, which slowly ripen in the terroir of the farm at an altitude of 1,560m, are carefully selected by the couple, preserving their sweetness and acidity. The harvested coffee is washed with clean water on the same day, then defective and immature fruits are sorted out, and then slowly dried for 21 days in the cool air of the high-altitude region. Carefully processed on African beds, turned over three times a day, this coffee harmoniously expresses a balance of sweetness and acidity, just like an orchestra. Agricultural product coffee beans have different flavors depending on the cultivation environment, and good quality coffee beans are completed only when the farmer's meticulous management is added to all processes from seed to processing and drying. Terarosa sources high-quality coffee beans through direct trade with producers and carefully roasts them every day to bring out the maximum unique flavor, presenting a delicious cup of specialty coffee. Now, experience the special coffee created by them. In a cup of coffee, the endless efforts of the farm owner couple and their two young daughters, Elena and Milena playing in the farm are infused.
