Elida Estate 'Torre', Panama, Washed
Tasting Notes
Description
Elida Estate, part of the esteemed Lamastus Family Estates, stands as a testament to Panama's coffee excellence. Positioned on the slopes of Volcán Barú, the estate thrives at altitudes between 1,700 and 2,060 meters, with portions overlapping Volcán Barú National Park, reflecting a strong conservation ethos. The Torre lot, or "La Torre," is a crown jewel among their microlots, benefiting from high elevations and optimal sun exposure. Renowned for its exceptional terroir, Torre is processed using avant-garde methods, such as washed and anaerobic techniques, to amplify its floral and fruity notes. The Lamastus family's legacy is legendary, with multiple wins at the Best of Panama competition, including a first-place finish in the 2024 Natural Geisha category. Their Geisha achieved an unprecedented feat by winning both the washed and natural categories in 2018 and 2019. In 2024, the Elida Geisha Natural Torre lot set a record at the Best of Panama auction, selling for USD 10,013 per kilogram. Although this record has since been broken, Elida Estate continues to set the standard for world-class coffee production, solidifying its place as a leader in the global specialty coffee scene.
