Description

A juicy and exotic coffee from the Farm series for filter coffee. Kenyan coffee from the Gititu Farmers Cooperative Society in Kiambu. Classic Kenyan flavour profile we all love so much! Juicy notes of blackberries and cranberries, complemented by sugar cane sweetness and phosphoric acidity. The wait is over. Our first Kenyan coffee of the year is here! Gititu is part of the Gititu Farmers Cooperative Society, located in Gitunduri, Kiambu Region. Gititu Processing Station was established in 1954 and is one of the oldest cooperatives in the region. It operates eight stations and purchases cherries from approximately 5,000 smallholder farmers. The Farm coffee series creates the heart of our offer. Seasonal selection of lots grown by responsible farmers with whom doubleshot maintains strong long-term relationships. Uncompromising respect for the nature, people, and beans reflected in the resulting taste. We selected this coffee based on samples from our partner and importer/exporter, the Norwegian company Nordic Approach. We were particularly impressed by the intensity and complexity of the flavors. The profile is typically "Kenyan", i.e. strong phosphoric acidity (coca-cola), notes of currants and cranberries and the sweetness of sugar cane. The bonus was the size of the lot and a very reasonable price. This lot was processed using the washed method. The freshly picked cherries are de-pulped in disc pulpers, followed by dry fermentation in concrete tanks (usually overnight, for 12-16 hours), washing, and then soaking the cherries in cold water before they are spread out on African beds. Drying takes 7-15 days, depending on the weather.
