Daye Bensa Coffee is the 2022 2nd Place Winner of the Ethiopia Cup of Excellence. Brothers Asefa and Mulugeta Dukamo started the company to uplift coffee farming families in Daye Bensa, Sidama, by setting up wet and dry mills and their own exporting company. They now operate 71 washing stations, 11 dry mills, and three farms, with expansion plans to neighboring areas. Hundreds of smallholder farmers in the Bombe Mountains comprise Hamasho Village, known for generations of coffee cultivation expertise. Daye Bensa Coffee enhances this knowledge, helping farmers maintain and improve crop quality. They are one of Ethiopia's Top 5 Coffee Exporters, supplying 7,500 tons annually to 25 countries, using a relationship-based model with farmers. Daye Bensa is building a division for 'intentional coffees' and exploring collaborations. The Archers bond with Daye Bensa dates back to 2021, marked by milestones like National Brewers Cup participation and creative processing collaborations. 'Ethiopian heirloom' identifies coffee from Ethiopia, covering JARC varieties and regional landrace varieties. JARC variety 74158 is known for its flavor potential. Past Hamasho Village Natural lots have featured notes of jasmine, orange blossom, lychee, apricot, lemongrass, blueberries, orange, and caramel, offering a succulent, sweet, and tropical-tinged complexity of berries, stonefruit, citrus, and white florals.
