Burundi Rugembe Hill
Tasting Notes
Description
This is our third coffee this year sourced from the Migoti Coffee Company in Burundi, with thanks to our friends at Omwani. We have been so excited about the quality of the coffees coming out of this processing station – the coffee trees are owned by the community, and Migoti purchases the coffee cherries directly from the farmers who harvest the cherries. These harvests have received excellent cupping scores, frequently placing it as some of the best speciality coffee coming from Burundi. The farmers working at Rugembe Hill include Thomas Kurumbone, Leonie Ndayishimiya, and Philip Ntagahoraho. After harvesting, the cherries are immediately placed on raised drying beds, where over the next 30-35 days they are regularly turned and sorted to remove any remaining defects. The cherries are considered ready when their moisture content reaches 10-11%. Once dry, the coffee is transported to a mill where it's sorted by size and density. The remaining green beans are then sorted again to remove any final defects. Finally, a quality assessment is performed in a lab before the beans are packed into Grainpro bags and sacks for preservation and shipment. The wonderful quality of this coffee from Migoti coffee Company results in tasting notes of cane juice, cooked green apple and a sweet manuka honey finish. *Although we make every attempt to have seasonal coffee available to order, occasionally some products are not available to ship immediately because we are in the process of hand-roasting them.* The roastery dispatch web orders via Royal Mail. All orders of a single 250g bag will be posted Second Class, orders with multiple bags will be posted First Class. For faster delivery please contact sales@alchemycoffee.co.uk
