Pauline Mumbi [Anaerobic Natural]
Tasting Notes
Description
Originating from the Njuriga washing station, located in Kenya's Nyeri coffee region, this lot is produced under the supervision of Pauline Mumbi Karimi, an emblematic figure and head of the cooperative gathering more than 470 producers. The contributing farms, perched between 1,700 and 1,780 m above sea level, cultivate emblematic varieties such as SL28, SL34, Batian, and Ruiru 11 on clay volcanic soils. This lot underwent a natural anaerobic fermentation process, which consists of fermenting coffee cherries in oxygen-deprived tanks before drying. This type of fermentation, meticulously controlled at the station, accentuates fruity aromas and produces a cup of great intensity. In the cup, the profile is distinguished by a luscious attack evoking cherry liqueur, quickly supported by notes of juicy tropical fruits and a fruity finish with hints of red berries. A highly fermented, intense, and bold coffee that will appeal to lovers of modern and experimental profiles.
