Costa Rica Aquiares Mariana
Tasting Notes
Description
This Costa Rican coffee from Aquiares farm exemplifies a de-colonized coffee supply chain model. Aquiares, a legacy farm near Turrialba volcano, is renowned for its commitment to people and the planet, focusing on biodiversity, carbon capture, and exceptional worker welfare. Managed by Diego Robelo and rooted in Don Alfonso's social justice initiatives, the farm enables workers to own their homes and provides extensive support. This particular lot is a Mariana varietal, a new hybrid, offering sweet, juicy notes of raspberry mousse and coffee pulp. Skylark Coffee is proud to partner with Aquiares, offering their high-quality, sustainably produced coffee year-round. The farm is Rainforest Alliance Certified and a leader in environmental stewardship, with practices like extensive shade tree planting and natural soil improvement, ensuring both environmental health and superior cup quality. Individual pruning and a rehabilitation program contribute to robust, disease-resistant crops.
