Wadi Mahyad Peaberry
Tasting Notes
Description
Grown on the terraced slopes of Wadi Mahyad in Yemen’s Al Mahwit governorate, this coffee comes from one of the country’s most historic and fertile highland regions. At 1,700–2,000 metres, its mineral-rich soils and cool mountain air allow cherries to ripen slowly, concentrating sweetness and complexity. This naturally processed peaberry lot belongs to the Yemenia genetic group, first revealed through Qima Coffee’s genetic research in collaboration with international scientists. For over seven years, Qima has partnered with smallholder farmers in Al Mahwit, investing in quality development, training, and sustainable livelihoods. Together, we have helped bring forward coffees that express Yemen’s potential at its finest, with the peaberry form further intensifying its sweetness, balance, and depth in the cup.
