Colombia Casa Negra - washed
Tasting Notes
Description
Cooperativa de Cafes Especiales de Nariño Variety: Castillo, Caturra washed, 1700-2200 m This Regional impressed us in the cup with its fruity and well-integrated citric notes. And - what makes it particularly exciting for us - we owe this to a large extent to the special terroir and climate of the region it comes from: the Departamento de Nariño in south-western Colombia. This is because the region is one of the highest growing areas for Colombian coffees. The high altitude brings cooler temperatures than lower areas, which leads to slower growth of the coffee cherries - and therefore a higher sugar concentration. In addition, the soil is rich in volcanic ash, which has a positive effect on the health of the plants as well as on the complexity of the cup.
