This coffee lot features vibrant tangerine-like acidity, tart cherry, dried rose, and sugarcane notes.Located near Mt. Kenya, Nyeri is renowned for producing some of the world’s finest coffees, thanks to its high elevation, mineral-rich volcanic soil, and cool nighttime temperatures. The region’s unique terroir, influenced by nearby Mt. Kenya and the Aberdare mountain range, fosters ideal coffee-growing conditions with rich soils and fresh groundwater.About Process: Mutheka FCS, formed after splitting from the larger Tetu FCS in 2004, includes factories like Chorong’i, Kaiguri, and Muthua-ini. Farmers, averaging 200 coffee trees each, deliver cherries to the Muthua-ini factory, where they are hand-sorted, weighed, and logged. The cherries are depulped, fermented for 24 hours, rinsed, and dried on raised beds for 2-3 weeks until reaching 10-12% humidity. The dried parchment is then rested in perforated bins to stabilize moisture for transit and storage. Kenya’s cooperative system allows farmers to vote on representation, marketing, and profit allocation, ensuring community-driven production.
