Description

We are honoured to unveil our treasured Mejorado from Finca San Pedro - an exceptional farm in the cool heights of Loja’s Putushio region, run by the inspiring Jijón family. As the sister farm to Finca Soledad, San Pedro shares the same ethos of sustainable excellence and meticulous craftsmanship. We first met Jose and Pepe at an event we hosted in London, where their coffees from both farms left an unforgettable impression. Jose’s calm, centred energy grounded the room, while Pepe’s passion and warmth were truly infectious - together, they created a moment that genuinely moved us. So captivated were we by this specific Mejorado that we immediately asked Pepe if there was any way to purchase it. Sadly, it had already sold out - a testament to its rarity. Then, months later, Pepe called unexpectedly with news: a late harvest had yielded a possible 30kg, and Jose had specifically asked him to check with us first. That call meant the world. Of course, we said yes. And now, we finally get to share it with you. Grown at a staggering 2,222 metres, this Mejorado develops a captivating complexity during its slow ripening phase, thanks to the region’s cool mountain climate. Fresh cherries are harvested at peak sweetness, gently depulped, fermented in pristine spring water, and methodically dried on raised beds. The result is a sweet, layered cup showcasing vibrant orange blossom aromatics, wildflower honey sweetness, and delicate hints of blueberry and peach - all culminating in a elegant, clean finish. We have opted for a very light roast to accentuate its clarity and brilliance; please allow it a rest period of at least two weeks. Yet beyond the cup, this is a story of family unity and profound respect for the land. By safeguarding biodiversity, nurturing stable microclimates, and valuing their dedicated team’s well-being, Jose and Pepe ensure every bean reflects the heart and soul of Finca San Pedro. This is our first-ever purchase from Finca San Pedro, and it holds a special place in our journey. We hope it finds one in yours too.
