Coffee Description: This coffee is cultivated in Embu, located south of Mount Kenya, the highest peak in Kenya (5199m) and the second highest in Africa. It seems to be a region famous for a natural spring where local people come to draw fresh water. Harvested coffee cherries are hand-sorted to remove unripe or overripe ones, and processing begins on the same day. The coffee is dry-fermented for 24 hours in clean tanks. Afterwards, it is washed with fresh water from the Kii River, which flows from the deep forests of Mount Kenya, steeped in water for 6 hours, and then carefully dried on outdoor beds. Kenyan coffee is characterized by its high density and rich aroma, owing to its cultivation at very high altitudes, and it is traded at high prices. Peter, the export manager, was born into a coffee farming family, studied accounting at university, and worked at banks and consulting firms. Later, to fulfill his promise to his grandfather (Mwendia Farm), a renowned coffee producer in Kenya, to "transform Kenya's coffee industry," he founded Rockbern in 2012 with his wife, Bernice. He works to connect roasters and producers, fostering a win-win relationship for both. Other: Harvest Period: October - January of the following year.
