Bomet & Nyamira
Tasting Notes
Description
This coffee is grown at 1,400–1,600 masl by smallholders in Bomet and Nyamira counties in West Kenya. Lot 20 has worked with these regions for over two years. In 2024–2025, Lot 20 began running training sessions in Bomet, where limited infrastructure means many farmers process coffee at home. These sessions focus on improving agricultural and processing practices and showing farmers how higher quality can lead to better earnings. HOW TO BREW This lot was processed using a traditional washed technique. Cherry is pulped, before being fermented in tanks. The coffee is fully washed before being dried on raised African drying beds. TRACEABILITY Sourced through Omwani from Lot 20 Coffee, founded in 2019. Lot 20 works with smallholders in Kericho, Bomet, and beyond, helping them organise, process, and sell coffee independently of the Kenyan auction system. Despite a long history of coffee cultivation, these regions are often overlooked in favour of Central Kenya. Lot 20 aims to change that by showcasing their quality and potential. Price Paid for Green Coffee (ex. shipping): £8.71/kg Amount Purchased: 180kg Harvest: September 2024 - January 2025
