It was originally discovered among a batch of Caturra plants, which led to the mistaken name “Caturra Chiroso” given by its discoverer. As Chiroso was cultivated by more producers, some began to observe taller plants during seedling period. Based on these physical traits, farmers started referring to it as “Bourbon Chiroso” to differentiate it.</p> <p>Through genetic fingerprinting in laboratory, we found that Bourbon Chiroso is genetically similar to, but not identical with, Caturra Chiroso. It can be considered a variant, with differences in specific genetic segments that manifest in plant height, cherry shape, and color.</p>
